Getting Started with Intervals.icu

Learn how to create an Intervals.icu account and configure your Garmin, Wahoo, and Coros devices to sync your PacePartner workouts perfectly.

Free Account

Intervals.icu is free to use with all of its core features, making it the perfect hub for your PacePartner training data.

The Crucial Step

When connecting any device, you must explicitly check the box for "Upload planned workouts". If you miss this, workouts will not sync.

Two-Way Sync

When properly configured, your completed activities sync IN to Intervals.icu for analysis, and your PacePartner workouts sync OUT to your device calendar.

PacePartner relies on Intervals.icu as the central hub for your training schedule, structured workouts, and activity analysis. Because Intervals acts as our central hub, you'll need to create an account and connect it directly to your primary training device.

This guide covers how to set up your account and connect Garmin, Wahoo, and Coros devices.

1. Creating Your Intervals.icu Account

If you don't already have one, setting up an Intervals.icu account takes less than two minutes:

  1. Go to intervals.icu in your web browser.
  2. Click the Sign Up or Connect with Strava / Garmin button. (Connecting with Strava or Garmin is highly recommended, as it will automatically pull in your past training history, helping PacePartner instantly understand your baseline fitness!)
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize the connection and finalize your account creation.
  4. Complete any onboarding steps, such as setting your time zone and preferred units (Metric or Imperial).

2. Connecting Your Garmin Device

To ensure PacePartner's structured workouts sync natively to your Garmin head unit or watch:

  1. Log into your Intervals.icu account.
  2. Go to Settings (usually accessible from the sidebar or your profile menu).
  3. Scroll down to the Connections section and find Garmin.
  4. Click to authorize and log into your Garmin Connect account.
  5. Crucial Step: Once connected, check the box that says "Upload planned workouts". If you miss this, your Garmin device will never receive the PacePartner workouts!

3. Connecting Your Wahoo Device

To ensure PacePartner's structured workouts sync to your Wahoo ELEMNT:

  1. In Intervals.icu, navigate to Settings > Connections.
  2. Locate the Wahoo integration.
  3. Click to authorize, which will prompt you to log into your Wahoo account.
  4. Crucial Step: Ensure that you have enabled both the download of completed activities AND the upload of planned workouts.

4. Connecting Your Coros Device

To ensure PacePartner's structured workouts sync natively to your Coros watch:

  1. Head to the Connections section on the Intervals.icu Settings page.
  2. Find Coros and click to authorize the connection.
  3. Crucial Step: Explicitly check the box for "Upload planned workouts" so that your Coros training calendar syncs with your PacePartner schedule.

Best Practices & Troubleshooting

Avoid Duplicate Workouts (Strava Warning)

Many athletes use Strava to aggregate their data. However, if you connect both your native device (e.g., Garmin) and Strava to Intervals.icu for activity downloads, you will end up with duplicate activities.

Recommendation: We recommend relying on the direct device integration (Garmin, Wahoo, or Coros) and disabling Strava's activity download feature in Intervals.icu. Direct integrations often provide richer data (like precise power zones and lap details) that Strava sometimes strips or modifies.

Check Your Time Zones

If your planned workouts are showing up on the wrong day, check your timezone settings. Ensure that the timezone set in Intervals.icu perfectly matches the timezone on your phone and training device.

Workouts Still Missing?

If PacePartner workouts aren't appearing on your device, the first troubleshooting step is always to return to the Intervals.icu Settings > Connections page and double-check that the "Upload planned workouts" box is still checked for your specific device.

Check Your Permissions

If you previously connected your device but workouts still aren't syncing even with the box checked, you may need to reset the connection. Revoke Intervals.icu's access from your device's companion app (e.g., Garmin Connect), then reconnect it via Intervals.icu Settings, ensuring you grant all requested write permissions.
